Rachel is a criminal defence lawyer in Brisbane who helps clients with criminal charges, disciplinary matters, coronial inquests and prosecutions for regulatory agencies.
Rachel joined Gilshenan & Luton in 2017, after working for a number of years as a regional firm's criminal law solicitor. She previously worked as a Judge's Associate and interned at the Crime and Corruption Commission, Legal Aid Queensland and the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services).
Rachel has considerable experience in domestic violence matters, assisting clients both in bringing applications for their protection and in defending against them, as well as with criminal charges arising from domestic violence. She has extensive complex trial experience with particular expertise in sexual offences, including historical and institutional matters, and misconduct charges brought against members of the public service.
She also acts in child protection matters, disciplinary matters and coronial inquests, and regularly assists victims and witnesses to navigate the criminal justice system. In 2022 Rachel gained Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law. She is a member of the QLS Domestic Violence Committee and an active member of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland.
