Melanie represents workers in employment-related disputes with an emphasis on disciplinary matters, adverse action and general protections claims.
Melanie is a director at Gilshenan & Luton and practises in employment law, administrative law and occupational disciplinary law. Prior to practising in these areas, she also practised in criminal law and misconduct law.
Melanie has a particular interest in occupational disciplinary law and regularly represents clients in professional occupations responding to disciplinary allegations by their regulatory bodies, including members of the health profession, the legal profession, teachers and police officers.
She co-leads the firm's workplace investigations team and is a member of the Australasian Association of Workplace Investigators. She is also a member of the Queensland Law Society's Occupational Discipline Committee, the Medico-Legal Society, and the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland.
